Global warming is a looming issue that is never going to go away unless we tackle the issue front on. Sure, it’s a contentious issue but if we don’t take action, all Australian’s are putting their way of life and their family’s future in jeopardy. For all Australian’s, the biggest impact it will have on us is our water; our water future does indeed look bleak.

It doesn’t have to be that way though. Our water future can be a future that is even better than what we currently enjoy in today’s world. Many people in Australia and across the globe have taken up the fight of combating global warming and water usage; they have installed water saving showers and rain water tanks in their home, yet more can be done!

In order for the following water saving tactics to be successful, it’s important that everyone adopt the techniques as great savings on water is made when it is a community effort.

The first step is to change all your utility companies to ones that have water saving programs in place. Surprisingly, many companies are still yet to implement such a strategy and are wasting many thousands of mega litres of water ever day of the year. Take a firm stand and switch all of your utilities to companies who are prepared to support the community that supports them.

You should also limit the amount of time you spend in the shower. If possible, take a bath instead and consider sharing the bath water with other family members; there’s nothing wrong with washing the kids in the same bath water. All water is treated and it’ a hygienic and water saving practice you can use in your home.

Lastly, maximise loads when washing any clothes or waiting until the dish washer is full of dirty dishes. These 3 simple tips can ensure our water future is a bright one.
